Hi everyone,

Did you know that California has more than 300,000 homeless students which is more than any other state in the nation? Los Angeles county sees 5,000 homeless youth unaccompanied without any real shelter on any given night. Homelessness is a real problem and it’s time that we begin to be aware of it and end its stigmas. That can begin through you!

Everyday we pursue life, liberty, and happiness; while more than 500,000 people in America ALONE pursue shelter, food, and healthcare. It’s time to be “updated” about the growing numbers in homelessness and be more open-minded about a real problem in our current society. These people are experiencing more than just one problem of not having a shelter; most of these brothers and sisters don’t have the proper healthcare and food to make them survive. Homelessness is not just having no housing or shelter, it is about having no security, proper healthcare, identity, and a sense of belonging in a busy world with people who are often attatched to material things. Only a poster should be out on the streets for 24 hours a day.

That's why my school joined One Night to bring greater attention to the crisis of homeless students and to raise needed funds to help those students with basic needs like school supplies, meals and a place to study. These things may seem simple to us, but to other young children and their parents’, it can mean to whole world to them. It's time that our public officials addressed this crisis to help students who are victims through no fault of their own. I believe that our current generation have the power to end the various strigmas in homelessness and find solutions to alleviate the longterm effects of poverty. There are many people in this world who don’t have the basic necessities that we often take for granted.

This fundraiser will help provide youth shelters - a place to sleep, have a warm meal and access to basic hygiene supplies including clean clothes is not too much to ask for a 15 year old trying to attend school on their own. We hope to confront the poverty of our brothers and sisters and help them take practical steps to alleviate the poverty and its problems. My school is trying to fill some of these basic needs but I need your help. Whether it may be supporting other organizations and charities, it is one step closer to ending a growing problem in all of our different communities.

Please make a donation today so we can purchase things like a backpack, school supplies or a warm meal. For those of us more fortunate we can take for granted that we have a roof over our head, a place to study and a hot shower and a meal before attending school. So join me and my fellow students to bring an end to the crisis of homeless students in southern California. Make a donation now!

We all desire the common good for our community and for others. The more we strive to aim for the common good, the more we grow to love the people we help and the actions that we do. Remember that a rich heart may be under a poor person’s coat; therefore do not judge by appearance.

Have a blessed day ❤
